How can a building blend into a medieval city?
Pamplona, Spain
Located within the walls of the Old City, the museum expands to become an icon in the vertical and narrow urban fabric. The projection of lines from existing buildings, significant sightlines, and historic paths resulted in a structure that operates as a microcosm of its city: varying scales, labyrinthine paths, and abundant opportunities for discovery.
Ithaca, NY
We created an shelter in the Ithacan landscape, where by means of our architectural intervention, the difference between exterior and interior temperature was at least 15°F.
The idea of a cocoon further developed the shelter as a floating pod, which lifted itself free from the thick snow underneath it.
The origami folds of the paper allowed the shelter to deform in any direction, according to the inhabitant’s form and intended use.
The texture of ornament is at once the source and product of its function.

Located around historical Net Huts near the shore, the site has limited area for construction and high tidal difference.
The frame-structure has different composition based on private-public relation, load, climate, programs, and children's scale.
In order to visualize the vertical elements of nearby net huts, the concept of towers within a tower was developed.
How can a building represent the forgotten event?
In the summer of 1919, a huge burst of a molasses tank resulted in many deaths. This building attempts to memorialize the event on the site where nothing remains. The revised Freedom Trail connects the building to other historic monuments.
How can a building revitalize the monument?
Invisible from the street and congested with tourists and bicycle riders, the entrance to Brooklyn Bridge has threatened visitors. This new structure separates pedestrians from bicycle and cars while functioning as a focal point for both the bridge and subway station.
Connecting the underground subway station, the new structure lifts up pedestrians from Manhattan approach. The bike path on the ground level rises up on Brooklyn approach, forming an endless loop without collision.
